A while back I posted a vintage Starrett caliper I got (and not one "you suck!).

Not sure this really counts as metalworking, but it is metal, and in spite of the frustration, it was kind of fun.

This is a Metal Earth kit, of which I have made half a dozen or so.  I have another 6 or 7 to be built.  This particular one was a bit difficult, because a lot of the parts were so small.  My son also has a few but has only built two that I know of.  At $10-12 each, they aren't too expensive, but you'll almost certainly need some sort of magnification to work on them.

how is that held together? are the parts "tab and slot" then twisted or bent?
maybe a nice trinket for a wife or girlfriend, or maybe one for each...hahaha

Yes, exactly.  Material is pretty thin, but you need pliers or in my case heavy duty tweezers to bend them.
