Todays Project - What did you do today?
I finally got around to finishing the mount for the tachometer. Now I need to redo the mounting for the Hall sensor. The way I had it for testing I couldn't put the gear train cover on.  17428

Seriously though, do you use it for speeds and feeds?  As a user of one of the low-end chinesium lathes, I rely on the noise and sort of a gut feel for speed control.  Does having an actual speed number help you get better finishes?  

Or is it more of a "it looks cool, and I like it" sort of thing?  Which I completely understand if that's the case.
Full of ideas, but slow to produce parts

All of the above. I've had it sitting around for years so I may as well put it to use.  Smile

I had to wait for the thread locker to fully cure before I torqued on it.

Made this last night and it only took a couple of hours, which is just about instant for me.

I watched a video on those wire wrap/clamp tools, and another one popped up showing how to make one on the cheap.  Cheap is in my DNA, so I gave it a shot.

   

Of course, I just had to test it out.  Wire is the cheap stuff from HF (20 gauge steel), and it worked quite well.  Pretty impressed.

   

This connector is part of a small project I've had sitting for a while, and I finally decided to get to it.  That will be posted later as more of a review.

I made one a few years ago. The come in handy for all kinds of things - hose clamps, ferules for tool handles, and even to pull in a crack in a djembe (a type of drum).

So, I decided it was time for some custom bodywork on the truck.  I think I went a bit overboard, but it should buff out, right?


   


I sprained my ankle, bruised the other one, and have a small cut on my nose where my glasses bit me.  Other guy ran the light, and I never saw him coming.  His truck was toast, buckled in the middle and front end torn off.

But I gotta say, your comment about the other guys truck made me smile a little...kind of like the guy with two black eyes, a broken nose, a broken jaw, all his teeth knocked out and bloody face saying "you should see the other guy"... Yikes

p.s. i'm only trying to be funny because you seem to have gotten out with no serious injury.
