Fresh skip today - wish I could have got a couple of the hydraulic accumulators out of the last one (fixed steady for the sliced-up use of), but they must have weighed a few hundred pounds each!
Today's haul took a while, the firebricks had had pallets and junk thrown on top, but I still spotted 'em!
There are mostly enough 2" insulating 1400C firebrick offcuts for a new casting furnace, I think (the last one failed to move with me...), eight 6"diameter x 6" steel rounds plus some smaller drops, a VERY rusty lapping plate and some more small steel and ally drops, a couple of machine lights (condition unknown) and most of the parts of a grinder dust-hood, and finally a nice dual power supply (0-30v 2A) with one side working to take readings from while I fix the other (completely independent) side :)
One of the 6"rounds is destined to become one or two D1-5 spindle nose replicas to drop on my rotary table to speed up fitting / centring chucks, I hope!

Yep, I sure do - I think we have the best skip I've ever seen, government science establishment so money no object... Did I tell you about the 4-gallon ultrasonic cleaner ;)

I think we have a contender for the biggest of the month!
Pipe with 12" flanges to become a fixed steady after a bit of cutting and welding, slightly rusted angle strraightedge, some drops useful for spacers / quasi-parallels and a pair of Mercer 0.0001" gauges, both in need of repair!

Looks like the Oil Drum Furnace is getting a little closer...
Enough soft (insulating) firebrick to wrap the hard firebricks from a previous dive, plus a few hard firebricks to fill the gaps in what I've collected so far... So now I need the drum and to make a burner suitable for the 4" x 32" stainless tube! Eek!
It's amazing stuff, heat it to glowing orange with a torch, touch it half an inch away and it's cool...
Also, some sort of Brown and Sharpe tool stand, any clue what belongs in there?
