This one will be done this evening. It'll be a lite for the mill that goes around the spindle. The LED ring showed up today, it was under $6 with free shipping for two!
The second pic shows plastic resin in a mold just starting to cure (that's the brighter white spots). Shortly (if not already since it only takes 10-15 mins) it'll be completely white and come out of the mold. Then into the lathe to cut a slot for the ring and bore the center out to fit over the spindle.

Vinny,
What's your source for the LED ring? Ed

A company called banggood http://www.banggood.com They're out of China, but these are shipped out of Industry City, California But you have to select US Ship or you get China by default. Also, they accept paypal. They're called BMW Headlight Rings. Wait, there are numbers on the pkg: SKU134754 0403-2558 dunno if that'll help any. There are other sizes too, the dimensions are in the description.

For the most part it's done. I want to add a set screw to make sure it doesn't move but even without, it's doubtful. I also want to add a DC jack instead of wiring it in. I *thought* I had a bunch in the drawer upstairs but those are stereo jacks. For now I'll use tape until I order the jacks.
You'll notice that the trough is wider than the ring. I originally planned on making the bore small so I could cut it and stretch it around the spindle. Then I decided against that. Anyway, here it is. Not planning on making a mold for it 'cuze there aren't that many Bromson mills around!

That's a nice looking product. I admire people that work with plastic resins - I'm a bit chemistry ignorant.

Interesting Vinny, both the actual LED ring and the cast resin. What is the resin that you are using?

Not sure if this would be considered political or not. It is not suppose to be just looking at the business logic of goods delivery. If it is thought to be just delete it will not hurt my feelings Struck me when reading that it was ordered direct from China. The more China companies sell small quantities, it is better for us the end user. 1 no tax collection 2 not paying a US company a mark up for handling or for any other overhead. It is bad for business, but kind of karma. US company sends the manufacturing jobs to China. Once China have the design, they in turn under cut the US companies street prices and sell from their side of the ocean. In the end the very decision makers that sent the jobs overseas....... end up not being able to make a living .... now that's karma Also one of the wonders of the internet, cause we can source things for ourselves.

Yep - I would have ended up with a puddle of resin and a ruined LED strip! Waiting to see this on the mill Vinny.
