Made the arm to connect a hydraulic cylinder to swing the saw.
The plasma struggled to cut the 1/2 plate, might be the nozzles I bought through the internet, they were made to look like Hypertherm products on the site, but are't engraved as such.

Greg;

Very nice work. I have a question on your cut-off saw, did you add the extra bearing to the blade guides or did it come that way?

Greg, is there any reason you used ½" plate?  Wouldn't ¼" have been enough? Chin

Boy! that CNC plasma cutter of yours is a GREAT thing to have!

Came that way Bill, for a Chinese saw it does well. Leages above the 4 x 6 or what ever they are. With the coolant, blades on this one last months, and the 3/4 blade cuts straight.

Really good point Steve, why weren't you here when I was making it. Sort of automatically went to 1/2 because of the hydraulic cylinder, but its going to end up with a relief valve set at about 300psi. The manufacturer recommends a maximum of 100 lbs force at the middle of the bar, so yah 1/4 would have been more than sufficient. Need to make another one today for the other side for the bar mount, it will need the thickness to prevent the bar flexing sideways.

Started on the plate that mounts the saw bar to the mandrel.
Who says this is a 7 x 12 saw.

Noticed it was a little hard cutting and quite hard to face. Used a carbide tipped bit in the fly cutter..
Went to drill it today, a HSS bit only scratches it.
Mystery metal from inventory. Looks like it would make a good wear plate just not meant for a saw.

Plan B has been implemented. Didn't have any other 3/4 plate so we've changed to 1 inch hot roll, same piece the splitter wedge was made from. Will take a little more whittling to use up the extra 1/4. Will need to make a stepped bore now. Hopefully I can swing it in the lathe, a 5 inch bore is pushing the limits of my boring head.

Has to be something like that Dave. I did cut it out with the plasma but even the centre where it didn't get hot is tough and seams to work harden.

Plan B is coming together. Had to take 3/8 off the end of the arm to clear.
