Afraid I'm not very good a build logs, usually don't see what you've accomplished at the end of the day so whats to post.
The completed project snuck up on me. It works great.
Here it is during the test cuts, only loaded two blocks, four at a time will help my ADD.

The quick action clamps engaged, the screw is to adjust for shorter or longer blocks.

The spring compresses to keep the clamp tight.

Teeth at both ends of the block seem to hold it firm.

Made a crank with a 3/16 throw to rock the blocks to create the tapper. A sliding wedge might have worked too. The 3/16 tapper over 16 inches is only about 1/2 a degree, to little to do with an arm.

Made a set of fingers similar to the dividing plates on a rotary table to keep track of my thickness. 10 divisions or 5/16 movement of the blade gives a shingle tapering from 1/16 to 1/4. Sorry forgot to get a picture of the shingle.

Jim brought over some really nice cedar, nothing on West coast standards but big for around here. After squaring the blocks we were getting 10 inch wide shingles.

And the slab cuts that need the edges trimmed

Didn't get any close ups of the shingles. They tapper from 1/16 thick to 1/4 on the exposed end. 16 inches log but when your laying them you only expose 5 inches so they go on 3 layers thick.
