Saturday morning ………..
 
07:00 Mission Control assembled and seated, everyone waiting for the ground crew to get ready and begin the Mill’s long awaited journey to the launch pad.
 
08:00 After several feet across the garage floor, it rest in place, the count down begins.
 
08:30 Count down completed, ladies and gentlemen here we go. As liftoff begins is smooth, the trajectory straight. The mill rotates to the left a bit as it rises into the air.
 
08:45 The Mill reaches altitude, the stand moved into position, the Mill descends onto the landing pad.
 
09:00 Several minutes pass as the Mill is bolted down, unpacked and DRO deployed.
 
Mission completed, Mission Control takes a coffee break to review the launch footage

I built my wife a 32 ford pick up, the masking cart was one of those tools one buys for the need. Use it all the time, it turned out to be handy as hell.   It has been known to pick of the slack at Christmas for wrapping paper..

Nice work - now go run her in and start making a mess. Your shop looks way to clean and needs some chips to make it look respectable

The stand looks superb. Looking forward to seeing what you can turn out with a new mill.

Once operational the learning curve speeds up. Friend gave me a 3x4x1 block of steel, with a hole 1/4 drilled init. Popped it in the bandsaw and cut it up, got some nice blanks. Chuck em up and go to work machining and truing.

   

The two things learned

1. chips fly all over the place, not sure why that surprised me, but it did. Chip containment will be the first problem to solve, got an idea working right off. Rolled some sheet metal for the ends of the table to start off.

   

2. Working the blanks and it did not take long about 15 minutes.  The next fix ..... a power feed for the X axis
     Placed an online order for that,  next weekend installing modification #1

The Mill .......... what a killer tool this is to have

Let us know how the chip shields work. I like the idea. I've done other things which were never all that satisfactory.

Will do, the plan includes clear panels front and rear. All will be easy to remove so as to access the work and tools.
