You also did an excellent job of writing up and photographing the build. If anyone wanted to build one for themselves, you've provided a concise step by step process.

I have the same digital readouts on several machines. They are not DRO's but still plenty accurate. I have 6" readouts on the mill Z axis, drill press and lathe tail stock. Also have 24" on the X axis on the mill and an 18" on the lathe X axis.
