Made up a couple of bearing blocks for the arm that will hold the log while its being cut. Bored the housings with the mill, is there a clever way to chamfer the hole when its on the mill.

The saw bar I ordered arrived. Thats a regular bar beside it for comparison, like to see the person who could weald that thing in the bush all day.

Cant you switch to an endmill (or whatever it'd be called) that rounds corners? Either that or a deburring tool.

Are you trying to make that thing that was attached to the front end loader we saw the video of not long ago?

Yah Vinny, same idea as that only a self powered unit. Load the logs onto it with the tractor and let the machines do the work.
I bored the bearing housing out to 1 3/4 with a boring head in this case, when I bore on the lathe its a simple matter of chamfering the edges with a cutter, not easy to switch out the bar in the boring head.

I have ground an old, chipped brazed carbide boring bar into a blunt "V" - like a threading tool but without the pointy tip - to do chamfers on bores in the mill.

Yes, you have to change the bar to make the chamfer. And, yes, you have to bring the bar to the bottom of the hole, then adjust the cutting diameter at the boring head to make the blind cut. It's easy enough, but not so awesome it seems magical. But it does it in the same setup as the bore.

Feed must be dead slow and lube is good - it's a form tool on the end of a long stick, and will chatter like crazy if you feed too fast.

Made the hub that the arm will be welded to.
