Stock racks...what do you use?

I am serious about making it double sided (not with wheels - just a bit of fun)
I'm not sure if it is a daft idea or not 17428 or worth the extra effort.
So what do you think?

There's an easy solution. Do more projects so you use more material and never have a chance to fill it up enough to block access. Big Grin

Made a start on the base. I mitered it.

I suppose you will want to see my welds - here's a couple.

Looking good Dave.

Did you spot/tack weld it first or lay the bead down? The reason I ask is that if you assemble it this way you are less likely to have it warp on you and it is much easier to rectify a mistake.

I tack welded first - one tack until all 4 sides were connected -then I went around the same sides and put another tack. I check for squareness after each tack.
Turned it over and put two tacks on each joint. Checking for squareness all the time.
Turned it over again laid a bead on each joint. Turned it over and laid the beads as in the photo.
It took along time nearly the whole day, although some time was spent setting up the band saw to cut the miters.

That is the way to do it Dave. You are correct that it does take longer but the time spent there is saved by not having to try and resurrect a steel pretzel at the end! However, you can also now see why I don't favour the miter joints.
