Rob,

We have a couple of those hot air rework guns at work and they aren't all that bad for what they cost.

That resistor is rather large so should be no problem. We use some at work that are so small we call them fly $hit. Big Grin

I have a client who builds prototype electronic devices. His workstation has a big lighted magnifier on it. Mandatory equipment from what I can tell.

Something like this:

I took advantage of a recent Enco 20% off promo and bought this Noga NF60103 which arrived today. I plan on using it for indicating on the mill using an Indicol type device to hold it per Mike's video.

Yes I have one of those permanently fixed to the wall by desk in my workshop. Very handy when soldering tiny stuff.

However beware - years back my son had one on a stand near a window, and sunlight burnt a patch on the wooden window cill - could have been a nasty fire if not found soon enough.  Mine has a fold down flap to cover the lens so presumably he wasn't the only one to have had a problem !

Tom Lipton did that 2 years ago using a regular Noga mount by simply drilling and tapping one hole in his Indicol clamp. That's another one of those "to do" projects I haven't gotten around to yet. I've have the parts sitting here for months. And I agree with both of those guys. Even though they do work "OK", adjusting the Indicol arms are a pain in the patooty. Bleh
