Here's another tidbit I learned:
DIN 6388-A collets are slotted from one end only. DIN 6388-B collets are slotted from both ends (aka "double-slotted"). Some references describe the distinction as "6388 form A" and "6388 form B".
Form A collets have no collapse tolerance (accepting only the nominal size shank); Form B collets have a collapse tolerance of the nominal size minus 0.5mm.
