The nut should have matching flats, so the nut will slide up and down. You have to get both of the nuts aligned with the flats. At least on my DP.

Problem: 65kg of rotary table sitting on my mobile tool bench for months.
Solution: someone threw this away. A few offcuts from the scrap bin Goes under the gantry when needed, out of the way when not.

Personally, I'd remove the spigot before you sit on it Pete.

Mike, I've got a swinging gantry set up over my machines, I do as little lifting as possible- had a 3-level fusion on my spine a few years ago and don't want another. Reason this sat on my mobile tool bench was that it needed to be on wheels to get to and from the gantry, either that or be in the way of the machines all the time.
