Todays Project - What did you do today?
Beautiful work as usual Ken. I really like the finish you get on that stainless steel. Thumbsup

Actually made something today, in between playing football with the grand kids, a small stainless steel (316) knob for an electric guitar. A friends son needed it urgently on stage tonight. Sweat
I wasn't too happy with the finish on the end but they were in so much of a hurry they were happy.
Only had it in his hand 15 seconds before he dropped it Slaphead
Not very big 16mm dia x 13mm long

Is that how he broke/lost the original knob? Big Grin

Looks just fine to me Dave. Graemlin

Hi Willie, thanks.
I just don't like these quick rush jobs. The original knob was a chrome plated plastic one, it had cracked and was loose.
I was a bit concerned when they requested a 'shiny' metal knob - thinking electrocution Big Grin. All's fine the knob just pushes on a split plastic (nylon I think) spindle, and shiny because it looks good on stage Popcorn
They were rehearsing on stage this afternoon when it came loose.
(He was lucky his Dad knew me)
I think he was more embarrassed about dropping it than I was

I finished up the rear brake plunger assembly today. The main part was the clevis, and it came out straighter and nicer looking than the original. The other part was a special shaped washer that captures and centers a spring. All 316 SS.

From what I've seen, it's not the knobs that get you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwIvUbOhcKE

I got a big tooling order in on Thursday. I love it when my ship ... ment comes in. This morning, I got some time to make a holder for the set of 5C collets. I had a chunk of 2 x 12, so I worked out a layout that would hold all 29 collets , plus a few spares. It really helps to mark out all of the sizes on the wood so that you can put them in order as you unpack them.

When I was almost done cleaning all of the collets, I found a duplicate. I had two 15/16" and no 15/32". Pretty easy to see how that could happen. The 5/16" is in the spin indexer because I already used it on a project.

I'll take a look at my set Mike. I got a full set plus some extras with the S&B lathe, if I have an extra 15/32 I'll ship it down to you.

Shawn.

Thanks. I emailed the seller. I expect to hear from them on Monday. Accusize, out in Toronto. Good prices.

Oh gotcha Mike, I was thinking you had ordered wrong. I'll take a look tomorrow just in case you end up needing it.
