Way ta go Greg, at least you got to use it, I was given a similar valve re-seater way back and it was one of the many things that didn't make it onto the 53 foot bus to N.S. Like you say it's not done much anymore.

I used similar seat cutting tools (made by woolf) for many years .
They make a first class job of valve seats
We also had a Black &Decker valve surface grinder

I sure miss old Tom, he was quite a character, there was no question if he did or didn't like you, ran lots of people out of the garage. A wealth of knowledge but took a couple of strokes and it frustrated him when he couldn't remember things he wanted to tell you.

Unbeleivable that is one of my most dreaded jobs I have always
hated and I knew it was going to happen and it did. Customer
trailered in a 72ish V8 Nova. The boys broke it down, then a
good day of the parts washer. A good days worth of trying to
end find my old Siux Falls valve facer & never did put away some
where. couple hours finding my snap on valve seat grinder. I
faced all valves on my trusty S.Bend. Everything mic.ed real
well only thing is those Chevy valves seals no good and never
will be so I found a box of umbrellas (new) for a Y block Ford that
fit perfectly. This engine has not been run for 8yrs with the
intake off everything in the trunk. (acorns nuts) Customer provided new
edlebroke intake, 4bb carb valve covers the works. The boys
assembled drained gas--new gas- first start- perfect. And he
drove off into the sunset. Another happy 67th birthday camper.
Tip >>> 30 pack beer. Im happy as to find that valve lathe
and set up a valve area bench. So far I found all valve tooling
for Model T, A & all flathead Fords yesterday. I now think my
dread of valve jobs is over Fun aint it. Do you know 6cyl chevy
exhaust valves go into a v8 flathead and all Ford tractors &
V8s are the same. So for V8s I get stuff from New Holland.
