Flame straightening a shaft
#11
Well thanks heaps for the offers fellas but I did my first long-haul flight in over 30 years a couple of months ago. I spent the last 14-hour leg telling myself that no-one can ever, ever make me do this again. Big Grin

Will get back to this shaft thing soonish, for now I'm dismantling the parts mill so I can have my trailer back. Unloading it bit by bit.

I managed to get back to this shaft this afternoon, jury-rigged a press as Ron suggested, with a 20T hydraulic jack and some blocks. After a few attempts which involved bending the thing back and forth, I settled on a .004" runout which is as good as I'll manage I think. I ran a test block through the mill with a 1" radius cutter and the runout I think is acceptable.
