Today I finally got around to finishing up the DP adapter plate. I finally got the plate cut out for the Franken-Drill column, then drilled the plate to hold 4 different DP vises.
About 30-35 years ago, I broke my left wrist, using a drill press, so the desire to secure the object being drilled, is very vivid in my memory. I have one of these DP adapter plates on every DP I own. With the adjustability the plate gives me, the variety of DP vises on hand, the X, Y and Z movement of the table, I can drill just about any hole, with some accuracy and safety.
1 - the plate, with the cut out
2 - the plate on the Franken-Drill
3 - the small Craftsman angle vise
4 - the normally used Palmgren DP vise, pushed all the way in
5 - pulled all the way out
