Wilton Verti-Lock Mill Vise question

That is a virtual copy of my Kurt D675 in every way. The way I described disassembly takes all of ten minutes....if you stop for a cuppa halfway through.

My vice (like all I assume) came with the thick rust preventative coating on it. I didn't need to strip it, just wiped straight off with a rag and some solvent. I think I used mineral turps but I cannot recall. Took all of about 5 minutes.

Thanks guys for all the help I think I will get some solvent and clean it again the kerosene is a bit oily.
I am not sure how well it will allow me to vacuum off the chips.

The vise holds very nice, now I need to find a part stop that I can attach to the fixed jaw for machine multiple parts and less setup time.
It is just a hobby but I enjoy working with metal and wood.

I tried finding the thread on making mine but came up empty. It's there somewhere but I'm not going to spend an eternity trying to find it since the search engine doesn't. Sadno

A little while ago I tried finding a thread I saw before about welding rod suggestions. Search didn't find it either.

There are lots of complaints about the search function with this forum software, and most other forum software also.
