Oh... you mean the bearings in the live centre. I wasn't hammering on that; only the wedges which are between the joint. Would that have impact on the bearings in the live centre?

My point too, the wedges don't put a load on the.bearings when the taper's stuck in a mill spindle or similar (drill quill? Lathe spindle?), which is why I made 'em - and they're usually more.effective than a hammer and a drift too :-)

had the same type of problem and solved it by using a u bolt and a hammer
tighten the u bolt over the gap until it wont move then bash hard on the bent part of the u bolt out she pops

Hi Wongster,
I get the same sticking trouble with the MT taper on my mill all the hammering won't shift the tool,i use a good dose of pipe freeze spray allways works, why not try it. Cheers. Ronnie.
