I decided I would make a video showing the cutting of the wedge 'pointy bit'
Mmm - I think I must have lost my presence of mind Slaphead

I needed to do a couple of trial takes (I'm not Doubleboost) Big Grin In fact I did about 5. Setting it up on the tripod, making sure nothing hits the camera, the lighting and making sure I'm videoing what I want to show.

Did a few cuts - start the video ............beep beep beep battery low Bash  Bash   Bash
Battery don't last log when taking video's 17428 and of course can't take the battery out without taking it off the tripod Bash

Hard work this video thing. I try again tomorrow because it sure was a trying day today Rotfl  Rotfl   Rotfl

This is what I'm using to cut the wedge pointy bit.

It's a 25 (1") dia insert end mill.
As you can see I only use 2 inserts at a time directly opposite each other. Trying to use 4 is a little too much for my RF30 mill.
I should mention those inserts are probably past their sell by date Big Grin
I'm using 1550 rpm and depth of cut is 1mm (0.040") and the feed rate is 17428  (as fast as I think is should be Cool  ) I'll measure it Smile

On the mill

The videos - done quite a few about 11 Bash  Bash   Bash  of which 10.5 are crap. But I'm slowly getting there,............... one  would think at my age (33) I would be able to do a decent video Big Grin  Big Grin   Big Grin

Any chance............... John (Doubleboost) you could nip over for a couple of days - bring your video camera and Debs Thumbsup  Rotfl

Dave, those inserts look to be older than both of us. Rotfl

How much metal are you removing Dave. It looks like a long, long process at that rate. I'd be tempted the remove the bulk with an angle grinder or perhaps send it to Bob. I have a feeling he could file faster...
