looks a lot like a pot of brass or bronze, how are you checking the temperature? I have a mifco analog wand, but I don't remember if I bought extra ceramic tips, all it is a K thermocouple, battery, meter and regulator circuit, but you just don't stick it in!!! hot pot of brass will warm your testicles! I'm sure iron is toastier!!!

I can't afford a thermal couple that will take the heat of Iron that pot when its boiling is around 2700 degrees and yes it has a tendency to warm the nades up on even a cold day.

a person really needs a platinum thermal couple to read any thing over about 2200 degrees.

you can get along with just a thremal couple and a multi meter that will read milli volts there are conversions charts on the internet that you can download.
