We have CAT engines at work with over 6,000 HP and cost over a million bucks. My brother in law works at Cat in the parts dept. My mom retired from there. I was too stupid to get a job there...Bob

Last inframe was done all cat reman parts, found out cyl packs they used were used piston domes, also KW where the job was done never cut the block for inserts and failed to made sure cyl protrusion was set right. You can bet KW is not doing the work this time as well as you can bet there are no rebuilt used parts either. Finning here the Cat dealer charges $142.00 per hr for a mechanic that is slower than my mother would be, KW rate is $112.00 hr, I have a qualified Cat mechanic working for me for $75.00 hr which I can live with. The jobber parts at least in my opinion look better than the cat pieces at 1/2 the price. The jobber parts are warranted for the parts as well as the labor. Cat is out to lunch both on their parts and labor prices. tom

Just in case anyone is interested cost of complete inframe about 12,000 using quality parts from IPD, AFTER INFRAME still had an injector problem so a new set of CAT C18 marine application injectors engine now makes about 700+ HP, puts the fun back in driving for an old man hihi. tom

Tom,
What is this thing you're sinking that much money into? An earth mover of some sort? Ed

I never idle when sleeping so all those hrs are driving. 50,875 hrs driving =2119.8 days or 5.8years behind the wheel driving 24 hours a day just shy of 4 million kilometers. ALL WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENTS at the present time I average 12.5 thousand miles per month or more a month than mostr people drive in a year. tom

Tom,
OK, I do remember seeing that Kenworth. You sure do put a lot of miles on that earth mover. Ed

That is a good looking rig Tom. My dad was a OTR driver until the day he died. Only saw him every other day as he was always on the road. He also had a gazillion mile safety record.
