figured out how many segments I'm going to have to cut to build up the belt run part of the pulley somewhere around 55 of them actual count is 48 but knowing me I better cut a couple extras

Then I imagine you'll have to do the hub and spokes right?? What's the OD? ( I could prolly figger from the segment sizes but doing math hurts my head Blush)

ED thats a layout for the segments that I will have to cut and glue together so that I can turn the round part of the pulley were the belt runs

Steve its right at 11 inches I'm going to do that size because thats what the belt fits and like the speed it runs at. I normally run the engine at about half throttle and the trany in 3rd gear, I know its slow but if I put it in backgear and 1st gear you can watch corn grow while it makes a stroke. And I don't have room or shaft length to make a 3 step for the tranny.

OH and don't do the math count the inch marks on the screen print there and Inch apart, you sure its the math and not the homebrew thats making your head hurt.Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinYikes

Why wouldn't you make it from one piece and waste away the centre. The end grain would be fragile but should last through the moulding process.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

by making it out of segments I can keep the long grain of the wood running around the circle with all the glue joints staggered so that it doesn't blow apart when trying to turn it from a weak joint. with trying to turn it out of say a 4 X 12 to get a ring of wood 3/8 inch thick once you go pass a certain point in the wood you stand a chance of it breaking on you, and I only want to do this one time not three like the last pattern that I made.

it would be great if I could get some that shows the table feed with maybe a ruler in this for scale, I'm still working on the shaper (actually fired it up Saturday for a few minutes), I have to pull the big gear out of it as there's something in it that makes a knocking sound that shouldn't be there.

I had a guy in Fairbanks Alaska that sent me some photo's but his shaper has a different leadscrew in it then mine has.

Damn shame about you being in Ohio, too far to drive over and take an up close look at it.

YES Photo's please, good clear ones that show everything and the hand wheel on top I need to make one of those also.

I was finally able to get this pattern cut by a friend of mine in Tulsa on his CNC Router.

there were some changes made to it but basically still the same. the MDF warpped and I have it clamped to a piece of alumium flat bar trying to straighten it out.
