I have my Grandfathers' Elgin somewhere. I also have one you wind with a key.

I'm trying to find one to add to the ones that I have that is a key wind. the one in that started this thread is a 1888 lever set stem wind one, I had to take the original movement out till I can get parts to fix it with one of the jewels on the fourth wheel is busted.

if you have a photo I would be interested in seeing it watches and clocks have always fascinated me.

You ask, you get. Right is the Elgin. The wind up is a "A&U Bourquin" 2nd pic is the inside of the windup.

A friend of mine is a Civil War collector and is always on the lookout for key wind watches. They are scarce as hens teeth around here.

Not just there Tom, they are scarce everywhere. The one I have is family.

there's a fair amount of them around the hard part is finding one that still runs, heck I see watches from the late 1700's on ebay not regular but often enough that a person if he was of a mind to could buy one, some of them are still running.

nice couple of watches there Bill the Elgin looks like about a 16 and the A&U it French or Swiss.
