Steve,
It looks like you're going to pull this off. Good use of a spare chuck.

I guess I'm gonna have to fab a mounting plate for the "new" chuck. In the 35 or so years I 've had the lathe I've only ever used the 3 jaw, 4 jaw and face plate that came with it. I dug out it's manual (compiled and printed by a grade 5 class) only to find there is no official description or specs on the spindle mount. There was a blurb on the D-1 configuration but only pics and children's diagrams of the threaded spindle nose.
So I took the chuck off and measured and although the thread pitch is 8 tpi the OD of the thread is 2.355" (A sloppy 2.375" or 60mm?). The unthreaded "register" portion measures 2.441" ( 62.00 mm?). Anyway economically or expensively I doubt there'll be anything available so the project grows ( as mine often do)
Busy Bee 12-36 lathe, Busy Bee Mill drill, Busy Bee 4x6 bandsaw, Homemade 9x17 bandsaw, Ad infinitum.
