Had a large order of some aluminum bearing blocks to make last week.
These are parts for our forensic test machine customer and we make these throughout the year for them.
This order was 340pcs.
Enjoy the video!

Thanks for posting that Russ. I love the rooster tail coming off those roughing cuts.

I know right!
I've been doing this for a long, long time and I still find it fascinating to just lean up against the window and watch those machines do their magic!

Wow! It's mesmerizing watching that mill do its job. I noticed it was mostly climb milling. That must take a long time to make 340 of those parts.

Hi Ed,
Cnc milling in almost every instance is climb milling.
Easier on the machine, longer tool life, and a better finish than conventional milling.
Yes, the 340 pcs does take a long time, especially with 5 handlings.
Would be nice to have a horizontal for this job!
The order though comes in as a blanket order with four lots of 85 pcs due every other month. We typically run off half the order, ship 85pcs and inventory the rest, then when the inventoried 85pcs ship we run off the remaining 170pcs and the cycle repeats again later in the year.

Very nice. Well thought out toolpaths, good tooling.
I just can't wait to see them done in 1/3rd the time with a 25HP 15,000rpm coolant-fed spindle.
