How to Hand Sharpen a Twist Drill
#31
Good video Tom. I was shown how to sharpen drills pretty much exactly as you have shown way back in the '60's. Since then I've hardly practised the art. However, inspired by your video, I've just gone out into the shed and sharpened a blunt drill. Muscle memory is an amazing thing, it must be 30 years since I've attempted to sharpen a drill, but my hands knew exactly what to do!!
Thanks

Just a thought on angles,
My dad long ago said, if you need a aproximate angle for sharpening a drill just place the flats of 2 nuts together and the angle that is formed is good enough.
Just another minimal workshop idea.
