Brian,
Just read this thread, thought it was great, and I'm interested in buying a copy of your book. What's your email address? I think your address got a bit mangled when you posted it earlier in this thread. I tried the email address on your website as well but my message bounced back.

Hi all
A photograph of the finished clock now hanging alongside my desk I am looking forward to seeing others enjoy making this family heirloom. Our children all want one so I have two more to make some time in the future. Thanks to everyone on M F for your comments and support, The book is available on my web site. Brian.

Just out of interest I thought i would try a ball race in the drive weight pulley because it is the most heavily loaded bearing is the clock. i found a 625zz in the odd bearing box, and made a new pulley to fit, the result was the clock gained 3/4 of an hour a day !! I have regulated the clock and will make a new drawing for the constructors when i am satisfied all is OK .

By popular demand I have added a list of supplier's for clockmaking, on my website. In USA, CAN, UK, & AUS, for the hard to find materials.
Best regards for the new year Brian.

Nice improvement Brian.
It seems there would be many good applications for ball bearings and pivot bearings in clocks, but ball bearings are a constant source of discord on the clock forums. Is it just because they are non-traditional? When I get around to building one, it will definitely have a number of ball bearings and pivot bearings in it, at least on the more heavily loaded pivot points. Tom |
