MSC is buying up as many companies as they can. If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em! That happened a LONG time ago with Enco, so I'm surprised it lasted this long.
Up here in Massachusetts they bought American Tool Supply 5 years ago. That was a big deal up here and in North Carolina where they had a satellite office. The staff at the ATS headquarters was kept, as was the building and the one next to it that houses American Tool Grinding. We'll see how things change after July when all the 5-year agreements with sales people expire. Several have already bailed.
There was an Enco warehouse up in Nashua NH for a time, it disappeared shortly after me & my dad picked up his drill press about 10 or 12 years ago. Expect more "consolidations" as they go forward.
