Been there, done that. It took me three tries to make a simple mounting post for a friends QCTP. In my defense, it was the first time I had cut threads on a new lathe I had just gotten set up. The first time I had the 29.5 degree angle wrong so the thread ended up looking like a saw tooth instead of a 'V'. I don't remember what I screwed up the second time but the third time was a charm, as they say.
