Well, I thought I might have bothered you all with some blather about the "front mounting" of my snowblower on this thread , tis the problem with multi foruming, so now I'll try to bother you here.
I have converted the snow blower from rear mount to front mount. The main problem with the rear mount was due to the higher speed of reverse on these old A-C tractors, it's just a little to fast for the 530 rpm PTO speed to the blower. That and the fact that my head no longer swivels like that of an owl motivated my conversion.
The front mounting would , of course, require a reverser or I would risk inhaling snow down the chute and depositing it on the driveway. I had initially considered a a gear set-up but since I needed a chain drive from the PTO in any event, why not do it there.
Here's step one.
This is where the driveshaft meets the blower universal equipped drive.
I was lucky enough to have had a plow subframe on the tractor when I bought it.
Here's a pic of the blower and lift.
Today I bulit a plate to reinforce the chan drive. I don't want to suffer a breakdown during the shakedown in this winter's snow.
All the above blather to explain the point that I'm dismayed at the time it takes me to do things now, there had to be 5 Hrs. involved in figuring, making and installing that simple plate today.
If anyone can reassure me that it takes them similar times for similar jobs it would be a help .
