Add one more o the list.

I'm fairly sure that there have been several indexes to articles in Model Engineer produced over the years. If you are doing this work why not import one, then mark up articles as and when they are scanned rather than re-invent the wheel?

I also think the info should be stored off site , what about setting up a Dropbox account  then the lads who have payed and scanned the articles can freely share the info between themselves . access can be controlled . For example Tom scans three mags , uploads them to dropbox then these uploads will be automatically visible to the other members of said group  .

The files can be accessed on a phone,tablet office or shop computer , 

Just a thought .

I have many of these from the 60s and 70s downloaded already. They are all in PDFs maybe a dropbox account would be good and others like me could start filling in years without having to scan them all again ?

awemawson posted a link to an index. Since the data files were available I grabbed them and have them imported in a database. When I finish the lookup program I'll post it's location.

I'd be interested in making a contribution to a purchase. I don't think I'd be much help with scanning, it's not something I have done enough of to be anything like efficient and I doubt that sending the magazines across the globe would be very cost-effective either.

OK, here's the story.

She has 1407 Model Engineer magazines as follows:

1930'S -56
1940's -348
1950's -362
1960's -225
1970's-133
1980's  159
1990's 124

She asked if $1 each sounded reasonable, but I think that is way high, probably more than double what they are worth looking at how dead they are on eBay. It looks like there are maybe 8 of use willing to chip in and at that rate it would be $176, which in my opinion is way too much. Maybe you guys should PM me and let me know your choke point and I'll come up with an offer based in that info. Another issue is shipping. That's about 370 pounds of magazines, so shipping would be be significant.

What do you guys think?
