Drew a little more blood this evening but not much. I managed to get the nut milled, with no blood stains. Tomorrow evening I'll work on attaching the gear to the lead screw. I almost forgot about that.

Thanks Ken. I'll try my damnedest not to screw this up. I don't want to disrupt your summer riding experiences. Summers are too short as it is.

The only part I'm concerned about at this point is mounting the nut accurately in line with the the lead screw path.

Ed, I dunno if I'm on track here or not but the following thought comes to mind.
With every thing assembled, the cross slide close to the operator (you) and the nut under the hole in the cross slide make a mark on the nut then slide the cross slide as far away from you and wind the nut under it and see if your reference mark lines up.
