It was great during the winter months but you sure didn't want to spend too much time in the compressor room in the middle of summer!
It had a pretty large radiator cooled by a good sized fan blade that was driven by the twin shaft compressor motor. (3 phase)
Unfortunately the compressor room was also where the 50 ton Dake shop press, parts washers, etc., were located. It was miserable in there changing axle bearings in mid-August.
I've seen pictures of those three cylinder compressors before and my first thought was why? After seeing them up close and personal and how tiny the cylinders are, it was self evident.

Hey! I listen to the "pump back to pressure time" and then water the gardens.

Have to make a correction to my post, I was going off a photo on the computer and memory. Looked at it today the intercoolers are on the sides and the after cooler is tied into the air intakes between the cylinders.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

I use to have some info on a cooler design that was simply a long length of large diameter water pipe into which the air from the pump was fed before going into the tank. I cannot recall the name of it but it appears to have been around for a long time and people swear by it. If I can think of the name I'll let you know.

Possibly. That name rings a bell.
