Well I'm glad I have some company. Life would be pretty dull if I never made any mistakes. I have nothing to fear in that category. Happyno

If it is only "I deleted the pictures" then we understand. If it had been "I pressed the camera ..." then we would be worried.

The way the past couple of days have gone, that's probably my next blunder. Bash

The summary of both posts was to the gist of.

Ed

On my press, I took two pieces of 1/2" x 6" FB the length of the angle iron
feet and bolted on four footmaster casters, making sure that two bolts for
each caster went through the angle iron and the other two just went through
the FB. This way I can roll the press around to where I need it and then
level it for use. I have the added benefit of raising the press up the
height of the casters, about 5" to a better working height.

Just be glad you are so far away from Horrible Freight as all I have ever
heard about them is horror stories, Less temptation to get junk, LOL

Walter,

Other than FaceBook, what does FB stand for?

My HF rule of thumb is to never buy anything from them with more than one moving part, but every so often the temptation becomes too great. I have a 12 ton open frame press from them that works quite well, but I also have an autobody buffer that is of horrendous quality. The gear whine is so loud that I have to wear ear protection when using it and I had to modify the handle to make it fit.

I bought an arm-full of the 4-1/2" angle grinders on the $9.00 coupon. Noisy as all get out. I pulled the heads apart and packed the gears with (real) grease and it made a huge difference. The little dab of beeswax they put in at the factory doesn't cut it.

At $9.00 if I burn one up, I won't feel bad about tossing it after stripping it for spare parts. Big Grin

That's a good idea Willie. When I bought the buffer, I was up to my ears in the Chevelle paint job so tearing it apart wasn't high on my list of priorities.

Arvid

Arvid,

Can you tell me where you bought the winch you installed on your shop press?

Thanks,

I think it was this one ... http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-cap...65688.html.

With a 20% off coupon it seemed to be the cheapest I could find. Extra cable and pullies from Mills Fleet Farm. Your basic budget build.
