RE: BXA QCTP - stevec - 01-18-2013 I've generally been pleased with the narrow part off tool Tom Reed supplied me with the QCTP toolholders he furnished with the piston style tool post I bought from him. I don't who designed the slanted feature for the cutter but they obviously didn't understand the main point of the repeatabilty of the QCTP tool holders. Every time you extend or retract the cutter the toolholder height must be adjusted. That, plus the fact that the toolholder itself should be longer so you don't have to extend the tool to compensate for the dovetail of the other dovetail. (see pic below) [attachment=4280] I'll be taking the above points into consideration when I get around to making a batch more toolholders. PS I should have brushed off the swarf on the thread I just cut. It's alu and a light pass with a small triangular file produce a very nice thread. |
