RE: DIN 6388 OZ Collets - tlfamm - 09-24-2012 Here's another tidbit I learned: DIN 6388-A collets are slotted from one end only. DIN 6388-B collets are slotted from both ends (aka "double-slotted"). Some references describe the distinction as "6388 form A" and "6388 form B". Form A collets have no collapse tolerance (accepting only the nominal size shank); Form B collets have a collapse tolerance of the nominal size minus 0.5mm. http://nann-shop.de/upload/cms_links/00000150_l_nan007_e-3-1.pdf http://web.fahrion.de/oe2edit/oe2edit.cgi?site=002004002001&language=en&session_id=8wksYCj&show=printview ----------------------- The DIN 6388 standard is also an ISO standard (ISO 10897:1996), characterized as "Collets for tool holders with taper ratio 1:10". The latter specification may be purchased from Amazon for a mere $99 US: http://www.amazon.com/ISO-10897-Collets-holders-hoders/dp/B000XYTAZ4 |
