As it happens, d2-01 was set on 4.0. d2-02 was set on 30.0. I changed them both to 0, but no improvement. I'm only using one motor, so I didn't look at those entries.

Have you by chance tried setting the display to show amperage to see what kind of current it says it's pulling? Since your error code changed from 2 to 4 when you switched motors, it seems to me to be the common bond - just at different times ie. acceleration vs. constant speed.

I'm assuming you bought this VFD new, so there is no chance it has ever been powered up without being connected to a motor right?

Gotta love those manuals though, eh? They tell you half of the defaults are dependent on the particular model of VFD, but don't bother to list what they are for each model. You have to look at every single one of them. Bash

I couldn't find any setting to set the number of poles. All the VFDs I've worked with require that setting. Chin

I'm guessing it just uses the frequency and speed that is entered to calculate that Ed.
60 Hz, 1740 RPM tells the VFD it's a 4 pole motor. If Mike would have entered 3600 RPM, it would have configured itself for a 2 pole motor. Don't quote me on that though. Big Grin

That's kind of what I suspected also Willie.

I'm assuming it wasn't even tested. All the terminal screws were snugged up. Doesn't seem like they ever had wires connected to them. Kind of a good news/bad news scenario. Not run with no motor, but probably not tested before shipping it half way around the world.

The manual seems to have an error, though. Page 36 mentions d2-00 as "Motor Rated Power" for the second motor, while Page 139 lists d2-00 as "V/F Curve Setting". Hard to work with details like that.

Hi Mike,

I had the same problem and it was very frustrating. Nothing in the manual says how to solve that.

I change so many values I stop keeping tracks of them. I remember I setted a value to 0 to use the automatic option of the VFD. I think it was d2-01 but you wrote you tried it. However, after the change I never had that Err.2 again at it runs without any issues for the last 4 months.

Other settings different to yours :
d0-02 = 2.0
d0-04 = 3450
I used autotuning for d0-05 and others

Now I am trying to find the way to make LinuxCNC control the spindle off/on and speed but I am no electrical tech and most of the stuff in the manual could be chinese it would not make much difference to me.

Regards
Fern

Mike,

d2-01 and d2-02 are the torque boost settings for Motor #1
d5-01 and d5-02 are the torque boost settings for Motor #2

Are we sure that we have Motor #1 selected for operation? b0-01 = 0
Grasping at straws here.... Blush

Sounds like Fern is your best bet since he has experience with this particular VFD. Smile

Mike,

I just noted that my setting for b0-01 is 2

I haven't even looked at it all this week. Too frustrating. I just printed out the last three posts. I'll check all this out tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback. It especially helps to know that someone else has used one of these VFDs. And won!
