The trouble is with being retired, one tends to be busy with retiring to find the time to organise anything.
I tend to find the time, but not the inclination

Well guys I had gotten to a point of desparation, can not even move in my shop for the clutter. I feel like the "Hotel California for Tools, you can check in any time you like, but you can never leave!" There are dead tool parts piled up all over the place and to make matters worse, whenever I needed a tool to work with, it was buried under a pile of crap and there was virtually no work bench space left that was not covered.
So, I took the bull by the horns, so to speak and started trying to reorganize, (again)
Ordered a new Roll-Cab to go beside the workbench, will replace the two door, shelved cab that is there, so will be able to further clean up and organize the "go to" tools. The electrical test station should fit just nicely on top of the new cabinet.
Next comes a purge, ouch I hate that cause you end up purging things that you need the next week.
As for peg board and slat wall, yes it gets a bad rap, but it is a handy way to organize things that will be moved around periodically. Just use the biggest heaviest hooks you can, even if like I did, you end up shortening them to about 2" long. Fatter hooks hold in the holes or slats better.

well sometimes we cant have everything the way we like it and i do have to work in places that use it. weird things bother me i guess that other people dont mind and vice versa.
i always thought that peg board was semi dangerous too. for instance if you tripped face first into it or were working above it on a step stool or ladder and fell. my work station at work when i first got there had nails all through the wooden shelving so you could hang stuff on them. i took them all out since i didnt think it was a good idea.
this is a wierd thing that bothers me to no end as well that probably doesnt matter to most. doesnt have to be my vice but it makes my blood boil.

That vise is sacriligious, a real shame. If the user is not willing to protect soomething like that then what else wil they abuse. Ugh!
Mike, this is one area where I have to agree with you, it makes the blood boil.
Dave H. Nice clean up job on the bench, but you have way more room to move in there than I do.

I've worked in several different shops with all kinds of characters. Many of them would not think twice about abusing a shop tool like that. :@
Their own tools were quite a different matter.
Some just didn't know any better. They didn't know how to use the tool properly, and instead of asking for help....
I ended up buying a lot of those special tools for my own personal use because the shops tools were always broken. So the next time they needed that tool, they come asking to use mine! Sorry pal.... not gonna happen! :smiley-rolleyes004:
Yes it's sad to see that kind of abuse occur, but when it comes down to it - that is what freedom is all about. Letting other people do things you don't like.
