Hmm, I'm not having any of those problems with mine. Although I've not used the full radius inserts yet. Probably because I don't think I have any.

My Nikcole insert does not sit in line or parallel with the tool holder either, like you i was thinking it was a dud.
I have had a little trouble with chatter too but also success so my story is the same as yours. I am waiting to purchase the threading bits to try them out, i am waiting on a silly cheap post on fle-bays to snatch them up like i did last time on some parting off inserts, I robbed they guy by paying $2.00 each for ten. Anthony.
