Ed, I don't know what size(s) you are after. See if you can find something in here.
Edit:
Disregard.... I had the wrong type of bearing in mind.

Ed - try a transmission supplier or shop. If they don't have them, they will be able to tell you where to get them. The race has to come out, as you cannot put a new bearing in an old race (and vice versa)

Darren,
I'll check with the local transmission shop and see where they source their bearings. The two sizes I need are 30206 and 30207. I can find lots of bearings in those sizes, just not with the P6 class that I assume the mill needs. I just may get what McMaster stocks and try them out. They may be just fine.
I've got the races out so I'm ready for all new stuff. I have all of the new seals and bearings except for one 6007 and the two tapered roller bearings.

I should be getting the taper roller bearings either tomorrow or Wednesday so I started some cleanup in preparation. I decided to remove the sight glass because it's always leaked very slowly from day one. I suspect the problem is the rather hard rubber they used for the seal. It feels very brittle. I will replace it with an O-ring. The thread on the sight glass is 27-1.5m, at least as best as I can tell. I believe it's a metric pipe thread.

I bought a new sight glass because it was inexpensive for a real one that has no plastic in it. Aluminum body and real glass for the window. Maybe overkill but since I have it apart I may as well fix it right. I hate the original which is all plastic and splattered with two colors of paint. The new one should be here tomorrow according to UPS tracking.
I got the tapered roller bearings today, genuine Timken, so now I have everything I need to start the re-assembly. I'll be cleaning up all the parts for the next few evenings and then work on the re-assembly this weekend. I need to figure out how I'm going to press all this stuff together with nothing but a 1 ton bench-top arbor press with not enough height clearance to be of much use for this project.
Well, I've bored you enough so I'll stop with the ramblings.

There was some discussion on another forum, that I use to belong to, about how the quill was supported on the RF-45 type mills. Here is a picture of the quill contact bands that support the quill. It's not as we expected. We thought it would have had better support than the two bands, which are about 2" wide each separated by a 2" gap.

Where did you buy the new sight glass? Do you have the specs for the seals? I would like to order parts in preparation for my rebuild. Thanks.

Henry,
I'll post a list of all of the parts I'm replacing and where I purchased them when I get home from work this evening.

I'm sure you can find this stuff cheaper but I didn't want to get cheap stuff so all the bearings and seals are either SKF or Timken. That seems like a lot of money for a mill that I paid $1266 for three years ago. Oh well, it still has a lot of life left in it.

Ed, I don't think that is expensive, bearings (good ones that is) have never been cheap. Nor have the seals.
