Thats it BF, you put some kind of VooDoo curse on my planer to get me back at the processor. Guess it worked, putting the hitch on it this aft.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

Charlie was building a fire pit at the back of the shed for him and his buddies to drink beer around. So I said we can improve on that, sort of a hold my beer and watch this.
Had a surplus forge blower someone gave me, a piece of 2 inch pipe with an elbow and we have forced draft. Will melt an aluminum can in about 10 to 15 seconds.

Just out of curiosity are you using any other wood machines now? (He asks holding a big needle in his hand ready to plunge into a picture of any other machines that might take your attention away from the processor!)

Bill was over today to see if I had a 6x6 he could borrow. Found an 8 foot rough sawn one up by the mill then proceeded to load it into his Tesla. It fit with the hatch closed.

Been working on this for a couple of weeks as time and weather permitted. It's a riser for my surface grinder to sit on a table lower than the factory stand. The available vertical room I had (over the grinder's height) was about 10". So this riser raises it about 8". Made from that steel I bought last year (or the year before), 4x4 5/16 thick and 2x4 1/4 thick.
I haven't arc welded in over 40 years, prolly closer to 45. I can still strike an arc but the welds look like crap, which is why I didn't take pics until AFTER I painted it, yet they still look like crap. You'll need a plasma cutter to get it apart tho! Back view: Side view: Front view: Yeah, I tried to put the paint on really thick, hence the runs, to hide the ugly welds. But then again, you guys already know my welds are ugly! The important part is the surface grinder is NOT moving once it's installed. Gotta do some cement work outside before I can move it to its new location, but coming soon. I also need to make a stand for my cement mixer (dumpster dive find a few years ago).

As long as it works Vinny, that is all that matters. If you are really worried about the welds you could have used bondo

I actually thought about using caulk over the welds to hide them before I painted! Hopefully by the time I finish the cement mixer stand or the welding table I'll have figured it out!

I cleaned out the coolant sump on my lathe today. Couldn't believe how foul it had got, I've only had it 3 years and gave it a thorough clean when I got it.
Been a while since I've used coolant, bought some new stuff last week. The reason for the coolant change was that I haven't got any suitable holders yet for my indexable carbide lathe tools, so had to use HSS on todays project- the last few arbor spacers for the horizontal mill. Still have to cut the internal keyways in them but what a difference a quick-change toolpost makes!

O PETE !!!
Glad U took the plunge and got Your Machine cleaned. Nothing like treating Your equipment to some TLC. Been dreading and stalling that chore for months now and U have just reminded me, if not made us more determined, it can't be put-off much longer. Will just have to roll up the sleeves, get the Suction and "get 'er Done" like the Man says !!! Thanks for sharing. U got somebody motivated at least aRM |
