I have a set of those bars (LMS) as well. Wouldn't cut worth a damn. Brought them into work, and one of the diamond machinists first ground in proper clearances, and then carefully lapped them for me to razor sharpness. Now they cut cleanly and smoothly. I use a cheap set of diamond cards (HF) to keep the edges nice.

Not everyone has access to an industrial diamond lapping machine, though.
Full of ideas, but slow to produce parts

Rough grind (diamond wheel) on my carbide grinder followed by a cast iron lapping disc with some fine diamond paste works for me.

My not so industrial home made lapping machine:  Blush
