Reading Digital caliper with Arduino

I eventually gave up on this. Got the Arduino to read my HF calipers, even got it to work with TouchDRO for a bit. But, there wasn't much support, and TouchDRO was too unstable on 2 different Android Tablets. A few computer/Arduino crashes and I lost the Arduino code that worked. I spent a lot of time and effort to get to the point I was at, and wasn't interested in starting over...
I still think it's doable, but I have moved on to other interests...

The difficult takes me a while, the impossible takes a little longer.

I'm going to have to pick your brains Ed and Vinny, as I eventually want to use an Arduino to drive my dividing head. I'll start a new post once I get there. The machining stuff will not be the problem but the code will...
