Boring head as fly cutter?

If this one was made in Taiwan, rather than mainland China, it could do until you find a decent grinder.

Nice find Doc!
As I'm still away off needing to grind tools I'm pouring all available funds into the Bridgeport rebuild. After it's done I'm going tool hunting.

Thanks for taking an interest. Thumbsup

I'd still check on Craig's List on a weekly basis.  If an old US made Craftsman or better yet Baldor becomes available I'd jump on the opportunity.

That's how I found both of my Baldors.

I don't normally recommend tools from Harbor Fright, but they have a decent, very basic 6" bench grinder. As long as it spins, it's hard to go wrong for $39.99.

My neighbor has a Delta, it's a nice grinder. The old Cummins Tools grinder I had slowed down to nothing even just touching up a tool bit. It made a better vibrating table than it did a grinder. That Delta doesn't slow down at all. $30 is a good price for it, too. When you go look at one, if on craigslist, take a piece of steel with you and try grinding it to see if it slows. If it does with little effort, pass on it.
