A bit off topic but I wanted to ask if anyone here has dealt with selling on Gunbroker.com before. I'm wondering how much of a headache it is?
I've reached the point where it is time to sell off the majority of my collection and my shooting gear and there just isn't any GOOD place to do that any more. I won't even touch the nightmare known as Craigslist! Brings out all the scam artists, low ballers, "Wanna Trade???" and good old fashioned nut jobs from under every rock. Been there done that - never again.

I reached that point a couple of years ago, and put my collection on consignment with a local firearms dealer. He did the work of advertising on the internet, and I notified the different clubs I use to compete at, and also placed flyers at the shooting ranges in my region. Results were good, and most everything sold within a couple of months. I did keep all the related equipment, and optics, which are not considered politically incorrect, like I care, and which I know will be impossible to duplicate in the future.

Thanks Mike. Yes I've thought about that too but the local dealers around here just want to give you pennies on the dollar for all your stuff and take all the profit. I've also thought about putting them on consignment with the local Cabella's sporting goods store, but if you have ever been in one of their store "Gun Libraries" you know the ridiculous prices they put on items in there. They are there forever, because no one in their right mind would pay those prices.

As was already mentioned, a posting in in the local clubs you used to frequent and are known will bring buyers quickly. Next step of course is to fairly price the items you have for sale. It never hurts to make a profit but you don't have to make it all on one one item from one guy. A note can be added to your posting to keep the sale on the Q/T so the information does not get into the wrong hands.
You probably really enjoyed putting together your stash, now it sounds like it is time to let other guys enjoy the treasures!

I bought my last pistol on Gun Broker and it was quite painless. The biggest problem I had was finding a reliable FFL to have it shipped to.

I've bought a number of firearms off of Gun Broker and haven't had any issues. Unlike Tom, I have been using a shop about 15 miles from my home years for firearm transfers so didn't have to look for one.
FWIW - You might check on Gun Broker as they may have a list of FFLs local to you which may have some experience with Gun Broker type transfers.
If you are anywhere near Columbia, MO I can probably give you at least one contact to talk to. You've got to promise to list what you have to sell here before you start listing them on Gun Broker though.

Yes, I know a few folks that have purchased off of Gunbroker before with no problems. I was actually wondering if anyone had any experience
selling there to see if it worth while after their fees and whatnot. I am just a few hours away from Columbia actually, and spent many a weekend in Marshal MO shooting matches there. But I'm not up to making long drives anymore which is one of the reasons I stopped competing. This isn't the venue for me to list my stuff for sale so I won't be doing that here. At least not until I find it's time for the metalworking tools to go.
I spent a bunch of time taking pictures today of some of the "other" miscellaneous things I want to move along to post up at some of the clubs / ranges and will see how that goes before I dive deeper into an online auction. It's crazy the amount of work you have to do just in order to take halfway decent pictures to show. Not like the fuzzy, dark, out of focus garbage they put up from 20 feet away on eBay and Craigslist to hide everything they possibly can.
Thanks for the input guys. I'll see how it goes.

I think you could make a case for putting it in the gunsmithing section, but it's your call.
If you choose not to post classified ads on this site, please, as Scrap suggests, give us first right of refusal via PM. I've been eyeing long guns, and been nostalgic for my childhood .22 40X target rifle.

Well, I wish you the best of luck Al. I have two of them that I will be parting with and I'm sure you know they don't come cheap these days. I checked Gunbroker the other day and found a few of them that sold not long ago (no sights and mis-matched bolts) for just over $1500 each. I have a couple of cousins that are interested in my stuff so they will get first refusal, but they think because we are related they will be able to get everything for a song. I'm afraid they are in for a rude awakening.
And then after you add in the price of sights....

I don't see either of my cousins forking out $3K+ for a .22 rifle any time soon.
