Cracking Nylon
#1
About 3 years ago, at a plant closing I bought some assorted pieces of nylon. some 1" , 3", 4", 5-1/4" and 6" OD, in various lengths from 11" to 4' and a few pieces of flat stock. Yesterday, I moved the 4" OD piece to get a washer I dropped, the nylon had split, much like a chunk of firewood. In a moment of anger, I threw it into the trash, today I had second thoughts about throwing it away, but by the time I got home from work, the trash had already been pick up.

With all of the drops from the jobs and the pieces, I've picked up, I'm surprise the magnetic north hasn't shifted to underneath my shop.

I'm running out of room to store stock, I may have to buy an enclosed utility trailer, to store material in. Something small, like a 16 footer

Just hold on there.  I'll bring my trailer and help you clear out some of the material to keep you from having to buy an enclosed trailer.   Rotfl

That's really strange, the cracking anyhow.

I do know that some plastics can absorb moisture and that may be one of them. Perhaps it got overly laden with moisture content and froze to cause the cracking. Is it a heated storage area now?
