The reason I happen to know about this is ... wait for it ... I installed Linux Mint to one of my machines in late February and yes, it was the infected version. Interesting in that I installed the 32 bit version to a laptop and the 64 bit version to a desktop on the same day. The 32 bit version was fine but the 64 bit version was infected. I learned about the issue when I did a software update of the 64 bit version. The updater said "it is infected" and would not proceed. I wiped the drive and reinstalled and all is well.

Thanks for that. I did see it and made sure I checked the checksums on the files. So far, all is good. I sure do like it better than Windoze. I'm sick of being harassed about updating to Windoze 10.
