Wanna see my table clamps?

That slotting attachment is amazing Rob, I would love to try my hand at aluminum casting one day. Here is the slotting attachment I started last Spring, once fire season is over I will finish it. Was planning to add a 4 position stop. It mounts on my SB9" along with my rotary table.

You say your planning on making a four position stop for it . I would not bother mate , make a four position carriage stop instead (something that I need to do ) ,then the stop can be used for other jobs . are you using your RT on the lathe ? Cheers Lads , Rob

Thanks Rob, I am planning to use the slotter on my lathe in conjunction with the rotary table. I'm planning to make a bracket to mount the table on the bed ways. I could have made an indexing attachment for the lathe (I want to be able to cut division marks onto dials as well as slot) but figured I already had the rotary table.
Cheers Shawn

Hi Shawn ,
Why not make an indexing attachment ,,,,,,,,,,, I have nearly two for my Myford lathe , A direct indexing attachment the uses the 60 T back gear bull wheel , this dose about 80 percent of what I need . The other unfinished project uses the bull gear in a worm and wheel arrangement . Which reminds me looking at above I used a spring tool /swan neck to do the screw cutting and worm on the spindle . Easy to make in an hour or so of work and uses old /bust centre drills re sharpened for cutters . Spindle some grade of SS CUB Lathe cross slide screw EN24 (just because the bars was the right size for the job). Cheers Rob

NEXT ! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, My hydraulic gear all built from scrap that I had salvaged , 30 ton press ,,,,,,,but I operate it a 20 as there is a wee bit flex in the tool table , I ran out of the heavier channel .one day I will get round to beefing it up .
Being a lazy git I cant be doing with this hand pumping LOL , so I knocked up a hydraulic power pack , the motor /pump unit is from a railway crossing barrier I scrounged from the lads working on the level crossings in the village , they were fitting new barriers. Welded up a tank , valve block is from a FLT . My 6.5 ton G clamp ,,,,,,,,,,,, well its a rivet closer . I still have a few hydraulic doodads to make , rolls and bender . Cheers Rob |
