Hi Rob , coming along nicely Drool, I do like to see a robust job getting done Big Grin, not like the S***E on sale new everywhere these days, there would only be the odd tack weld on the finished job.
I dont think yours will come to much harm if it takes a knock Rotfl

Cheers Mick

Hi Ed , my welding set up is nothing special just a welder from Machine Mart

It dose what I need of it , had it about 10 years and haven't killed it yet Big Grin

I here you Mick ,,,,,,,,,,,never buy a Doosan forklift the welding on those is very poor , I think they should be re branded as DooDoosan Rotfl

Well tonight's offerings ,not much but better than nowt RotflRotfl , finished off the welding ,ground off the weld flush on the underside of the top flange .

and ground up and rounded off the edge of the top face of the top flange .

A tad more done yesterday ,I got the hole cut into the hearth for the fire pot .After laying out I drilled out the corners with a hole saw ,this is so I would have rad corners, it also gave me a chance to try out the slow air drill John DB gave me ,one of his boot sale finds. It worked a charm.

Next joined the holes with the oxy torch .

A wee clean up with the grinder .

Nice work Rob.

You'll have so much thermal mass in that hearth you'll burn yourself on it the following day !
